My name is Russ.
Work
Professionally, I am an "Application Support Engineer" for Sony Ci. My work involves investigating and (hopefully) resolving customer reported issues, identifying bugs, and other stuff.
My favorite stuff to work on are requests for reports that involve complex querying. I also enjoy building tools that makes the boring work easier.
Some of the technologies I work closely with:
- MongoDB
- Writing queries and update scripts in Javascript for
mongosh. - When I need something more advanced, e.g. something that queries multiple databases or needs to make HTTP requests, I will write a small Node.js program.
- AWS
- S3
- We offer a "Bring Your Own Storage" solution, and I am very much involved with setting this up for customers and troubleshooting any issues with it.
- SQS
- Lambda
- Redshift/Quicksight
- Python
-
Mostly small programs to automate things
(e.g.
boto3scripts for sending messages to SQS queues) or help analyze data (e.g.pandas) .
Personal
Outside of work, I enjoy playing video games (rougelites and platform fighters especially), working on pet projects when inspiration strikes, and cuddling with my dog Lucy.
I also enjoy standup comedy, watching the Los Angles Lakers, and drinking hard seltzers at my local dive bar.
